Common Admission Test (CAT) is considered as one of the toughest exams in our India. A lot of students prepare for years together to score well in CAT. If you have filled the form for the CAT exam but not started your preparation yet, at the same time you are panicking by seeing other aspirants who are working very hard for the exam right from the beginning of the year. Then please calm down!! You still have time to prepare well for the exam to get a good percentile in CAT to make it to a good MBA college. Just prepare a good strategy by considering the following points and work accordingly.

1. Gather all the important materials required for preparation-

Break your preparation into 3 parts i.e. basic, intensive, mock tests. First of all read the books/materials (according to your syllabus) thoroughly to make your concept clear. Once you understand the fundamentals, try to solve the difficult level questions. Then go for mock test series. So collect your materials accordingly. Don’t forget to collect and practice previous year question papers.

2. Everyday counts, so be consistent-

Keep a calendar on your study table and mark every passing days to know how less time left for the exam. You must know that you do not have a single day to waste in unproductive things. If you keep taking breaks, you are sure to lose your pace of study instead of accelerating it. Make a date wise routine and finish your tasks accordingly.

3. Concentration and time management-

Concentration is a very vital factor to succeed in any exam. Especially the working persons who cannot allot major portion of their time for study should be more focused. They should study 2-4 hours in weekdays and 7-8 hours in weekends with full concentration. Every aspirant should make it a habit of studying for 2 – 2.5 hours with full focus then taking a break of 5-10 minutes and again sitting for another 1-2 hours for study.

4. Improve your vocabulary and the ability to solve numerical data-

In CAT exam, vocabulary and ability to solve logical and numerical data is given more importance. If you are strong in all these things then the result can be in your favor. So, take care of this thing and prepare accordingly.

5. Know your strengths-

One need not be equally strong in all subjects. So learn to play on your strengths. Attempt more questions of the segment in which you are strong.

7. Cultivate quick thinking ability-

Try solving one problem in many different ways. Try to master the shout cuts. It helps you cultivate a quick-thinking ability and as a result of which you can attempt more questions with accuracy in exam.

8. Take up mock tests-

Initially your scores might be pathetic but do not get panic. Keep on practicing test series. The most important thing you must do after giving every test series is to analyze the question patterns and your performance, identify your strength and weakness.

Be confident, never give up and always keep yourself motivated.

Dashain & Tihar are two of the most celebrated festivals in Nepal! Nepali people are rich in culture and traditions. The varieties of festivals, events and occasion people of Nepal celebrate has significance of its own.

Dashain (Vijaya Dashami)

Dashain commemorates a great victory of the Gods over the wicked demons. One of the victory stories told is that Ram after a big struggle killed Ravan, King of Demons. The main celebration glorifies the win of Good over evil by Goddess Durga. Goddess Durga had emerged and destroyed Mahishasura, who had created terror. It is celebrated almost for 15 days in the month of Late September and Early October.

‘Ghatasthapana’ the first day of Dashain is welcomed by worshiping Goddess Durga for 9 consecutive days called as ‘Nawa Ratri’. The first nine days symbolizes the battle which took place between the different manifestations of goddess Durga and the Demon Mahishasura.

At the tenth day Mahishasura was slain and it is celebrated as ‘Vijaya Dashami’. On this auspicious day, seniors put ‘Tika’ and ‘Jamara’ giving blessings to their young ones! In preparation of Dashain every home is cleansed and beautifully decorated, as an invitation to Goddess Durga, so that she may visit and bless the house with good fortune! This day is celebrated like a family reunion where everyone enjoys with varieties of foods, playing cards and flying kites, etc.

Dashain reunites family, friends and also gives the working people time to relax and celebrate.

Tihar (Festival of Lights)

The second biggest festival of Nepali people after Dashain, lasts for five days and people worship Laxmi – Goddess of Wealth.

Tihar, also called Dipawali is the most dazzling festivals for Hindu. The cities and sorroundings are cleaned and presence of Marigold flower is seen everywhere! At night every house looks illuminating with lights, ‘diyos’ and candles.

This festival falls in the month of October or November (asoj or kartik in Nepali Calendar ), and celebrated for five days long by worshipping 4 different animals I.e. Crow (Kaag Tihar).

Dog (Kukur Tihar),, Cow (Gai Tihar) and Ox (Goru Tihar).

Goru Tihar is the day when Goddess of wealth, Laxmi, is worshhipped.

The 5th day is celebrated as ‘Bhaitika’. On this day sisters put the seven colors Tika on the brother’s forehead and pray for their longer well being and progress which signifies great importance for the love between brothers-sisters.

Celebration of Tihar brings Joy to families and friends; playing ‘Deusi-Bhailo’ and worshipping goddess Laxmi, who is believed to bring prosperity and happiness to the lives of people.

It is my traditional art style, which I have fallen in love with all over again and it is a privilege to share uli with you in my works. It has been shown that the knowledge of uli motifs and symbols and their application enables one to identify the traditional Igbo artifacts, giving validity to the people’s aesthetic intelligence and judgment. This culture is one of the first known cultures of the world in the recorded archeologically facts to have done bronze casting. (Igboukwu bronze).

Uli symbols may be said to show graphically how the organic forms grow outwards from the core of those elements to point, line, triangle, square and circle that are universal to the concentric circle at the periphery, which contains reflections of everyday world as seen by the artists. Just as the inner circle reflects the uncommon reality or ritual reality of the cultural existence, so the outer circle is in contact with the human and ecological reality, which it expresses.

Artistic activities at Enugu formed part of the early post-1960 independence developments in the country. There was the growing local and international popularity of Nigerian novelists, dramatists, poets, literary critics, architects, artists, and musicians, and scholars. Interesting collaborations took place among those in the literary performing, and visual arts, particularly in southern Nigeria. It fully developed among teachers and students in the 1970s at the University in Nsukka and was linked to renewed interest in Igbo culture after the destructive Biafran War.

Traditional uli motifs, now rarely painted on human bodies or walls, have a strong linear, often curvilinear, quality. The art makes use of contrasts between positive and negative space, its images at times appearing as sky constellations. Uli’s lyrical qualities express harmony and brevity. It is art style that has often been created in freedom and spontaneity. «Uli is a pride heritage». Uli motifs generally refer to images of everyday Igbo life, farm and cooking tools, pots, plants, birds, animals, the sun, the moon, and the kola nut, though some are pure design. For ceremonial occasions and important events, skilled Igbo female artists painted uli to add beauty to the human body and the walls of buildings and compounds. Uli has made her way in modern social settings; on sculptural surfaces and on paper, board, and canvas, framed and hung on walls in homes, institutions, and galleries of the world.

Magic of Uli Lines, which is an extended dot or a moving point, has very many possibilities, particularly, the quickly drawn one. My drawing explores the evocative and lyrical possibilities of line and derives from Uli. The Uli artist works spontaneously whether on the human body or the wall. There is no question of erasing or cleaning. There is something about the spontaneously executed work, a breathtaking vitality and freshness that defy description or repetition.

An analysis of Igbo drawing and painting reveals that space, line pattern, brevity and spontaneity seem to be the pillars on which the rich tradition and heritage rests. It is these unique qualities that I strive for, both intuitive and intellectually to assimilate in my work. Intuitively, because during my years of studying and looking at Igbo sculpture, drawing and painting, various aspects of design and recurrent motifs have become internalized in my system and inevitably surface unconsciously in the course of executing my aesthetic challenges. It is perhaps needless to add that the great works of art is a result of the harmonious marriage of intellect and intuition.
