William Gallas had a fallout with Mr .Mourinho and during the much publicized purchase of Ashley Cole, Gallas was offered in exchange as an icing on the cake.
Mourinho might have thought that Gallas did not do much but since he left, Cole has not yet quite filled his shoes. On the other hand Gallas is doing much more as a left back than Arsene Wenger might have ever dreamt of.
When rumors of Andriy Shevchenko’s move to Chelsea reached the press, everyone including Chelsea’s fans were thrilled at the thought of Andriy and Drogba teaming up. This dream just… well, just stayed a dream because we have seen nothing yet. Drogba and Shevchenko flow together the way water and fire would.
Even though this happened I myself thought the former European footballer of the year might just pull it off without Drogba but he has not adapted to the lightning quick pace of English football. We may just have to wait for a season or two before he finally clicks (I don’t think he is quite in a hurry to leave if you consider he is being paid 120,000 pounds per week).
Michael Ballack left his beloved homeland of Germany (also for the price of 120,000 pounds per week) for England to use his experience as a midfielder to help Frank Lampard in the Chelsea midfield. This seemed like another duo that would have greatly prospered together considering their talent and exposure but they just have not clicked yet. Just like Shevchenko, Ballack has also been slow to learn the English style of playing (is it something to do with their hefty wages?). For your information Ballack has already been sent off once.
The only people who seem to be consistent are the Africans who play for Chelsea. Didier Drogba has never fallen short of goals, Michael Essien is doing a good job filling in for John Terry, the young talents of Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel seem to be growing in stature day by day and not to forget the good job done by the Frenchman Claude Makelele.
PS: Have you noticed of late how Abromavich doesn’t seem as happy as he seemed before when Chelsea were winning every game? There have even been disturbing rumors that this is Mourinho’s last season at Stamford Bridge.

Just days after securing a fourth consecutive Series A title, Inter Milan announced the extension of manager Jose Mourinho’s contract until 30 June, 2012.
The deal was hailed by Inter as being «a sign of attachment and of winning spirit.» Mourinho, 46, has now won the league in three different countries, as well as the Champions League with Porto in 2004.
A statement on the club’s website said that the extension was «a response to the wish of the coach to continue the project started together a year ago, a wish welcomed with pleasure by the club.»
The Italian club will now be hoping that Mourinho can bring European success to the San Siro, who have not won the European cup since 1965. The club however have won the UEFA Cup three times, most recently in 1998.
In his first season in Italy, Mourinho won the ‘Supercoppa Italiana’ as well as the Serie A title, but the Italian giants were knocked out of the Champions League by defending champions Manchester United at the last 16 stage.
But if there was one manager who can bring European success to the San Siro in the coming seasons, most football fans would surely agree that the ‘special one’ is one of the best candidates for the job.
And Mourinho is convinced that there is not much distance between Inter and United. «We were very close to beating them,» he said.
«So if we improve we will be close, very close to the teams from the Premier League. But it is very difficult to get players.»
In the last few days, Mourinho has talked up the possibility of bringing Chelsea centre-back Ricardo Carvalho to Milan – a player who has worked under the Portuguese manager at both Porto and Chelsea.
The Inter boss said: «One player who would improve us at Inter is Ricardo Carvalho. He is not playing at Chelsea now and it looks like Alex is in front of him, so maybe it is better to let him come here and play.»

Ahead of every new season, we are all asking «who will our team sign»?
See what you think of my predictions:
Fernando Torres
Liverpool > Chelsea
With Liverpool now failing in all areas Fernando Torres will want to start winning trophy’s and he knows that Liverpool FC is not the place, there were rumours of a Barcelona move however that will not happen now and he would never join Real Madrid.
Chelsea are successful and looking to build on that, With Drogba and Anelka at 30-31 years old they will be moving on within the next 2 years therefore Torres will take the mantle.
Approx Fee – £40 Million
Karim Benzema
Real Madrid > Manchester United
It is well known that Sir Alex is a fan of this young Frenchman and he showed promise at Lyon however has had a tough season in Madrid, one bad season in Madrid is normally the end and I expect the same result here. Man united need striker’s with Berbatov not performing and Owen injured invariably it rests on Rooney’s shoulders.
Approx Fee – £22 Million
Cesc Fabergas
Arsenal > Barcelona
If this does happen i would be shocked, Fabergas has publicly stated his desire for the move and when that happens you cannot stop it, it would be another fantastic signing following David Villa to the Nou Camp, as it happens he would join the other Spain Internationals such as Puyol, Pique, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Pedro.
Approx Fee – £40 Million
Wesley Sneijder
Inter Milan > Chelsea
I write this article pre WC final however regardless of this fact he has had a fantastic season and a great World cup campaign, he has matured in the talent that was showing promise in his Ajax days, Scoring Goals from all angles and distances including dead ball ability he has fast become hot property.
With a host of big clubs interested such as Manchester United, City & Chelsea he will have plenty of options.
There is of course a chance that he will stay with the European champions but when money talks players often move.
Approx Fee – £35 Million
Maicon
Inter Milan > Real Madrid
What a signing this would be. In my opinion Maicon is the best right back in the world, he has everything including goals. Although he has has had league and European success i suspect he will fancy a new challenge and following his former coach to Madrid which would mean Sergio Ramos moving into central defence should the move happen.
It is a glamour move and the Spanish league is a faster pace which will suit Maicon’s game.
Approx Fee – £25 Million
Edin Dzeko
Wolfsburg > Man City
With new manager Steve Mclaren at the helm he needs to funds to change this now faltering team, starting with the sale of Edin Dzeko, the tall striker is a goalscorer in the bundesliga but for fee involved it is risky. The Premier League tends to find players out and i feel it will happen to Dzeko.
We will see.
Approx Fee – £30 Million

Ever since he was appointed manager of Chelsea following the shock parting of ways between the club and Jose Mourinho, Avram has told anyone that cared to listen that he intended to play the «right way».
He means of course that his team would be more expansive in their play with emphasis on attacking play. It was a dig at the efforts of Jose Mourinho possibly from those above like Roma Abramovic and Peter Kenyon to undermine Jose’s achievements.
Despite being no evidence of the so-called attacking play, he kept insisting that they were playing the «right way». He also keeps saying this is «my team» or «I am in charge» like someone with an inferiority complex and that cannot be good for a club of Chelsea’s lofty ambitions.
He has been praised in many quarters for guiding Chelsea to a very praise-worthy 3 losses in 35 games before yesterday’s Carling cup final. He was also praised for ding so without the bulk of his side being present due to injuries and some players going to African cup of nations.
I said previously that I was not convinced about his efforts as the fact that he did not have much of a choice had actually aided him and that he was still riding on Jose’s coat-tails.
He had most of his big players back and he was found wanting in the selection department. I did not think for 1 second that he has enough power to drop Frank Lampard and John Terry as press reports were suggesting before the game and that is how it turned out.
The game itself was all about Tottenham and Juande Ramos totally outplaying Chelsea and also Avram’s utter lack of tactical nous.
He chose the wrong line-up to begin with as Michael Ballack, Claude Makele and Joe Cole should have started whilst Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard and Nicholas Anelka should not have.
After that blunder, he should have addressed the situation by bringing on his substitutes a lot sooner than he did and Michael Essien should not have been 1 of the players substituted as he looked like he had enough energy to continue.
He has now lost 3 games in his time in charge and they were very important big games that Jose Mourinho hardly ever did.
He still has the chance to redeem himself this season but I cannot see Chelsea winning the Premiership or Champions league and the FA cup remains their best bet as long as they avoid meeting Manchester United at any stage.

Wenger Scare Us
Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has revealed Arsene Wenger was so furious after Sunday’s row at West Ham that even the players were scared of him!
Gilberto is the first Gunners’ star to shed light on exactly what happened in the dressing room after the touchline clash that stunned football last Sunday.
The Brazilian World Cup star revealed he and his team-mates gave the normally mild-mannered Wenger a wide berth after the 1-0 defeat which left them 10 points behind Premiership leaders Manchester United with their title challenge in tatters.
Speaking to the Brazilian media, Gilberto said: «There were no problems between Mr Wenger and the players because the problem didn’t involved the players. But the situation left us scared. We know the manager and we know that he is very polite and calm. Something very bad had happened to make him react like he did.
«After the game, Mr Wenger didn’t talk to anyone. As it wasn’t a problem involving the players, he decided not to discuss it with us.»
On the behaviour of West Ham manager Alan Pardew, Gilberto was scathing: «I have seen it on TV many times and when West Ham scored, Pardew came to our bench to celebrate, but in a offensive way.
«That made Wenger react like he did, and that is why he had to talk to Pardew about that celebration.
«He was p****d off about the way Pardew celebrated and, as I said, that was the reason he reacted that way. As I saw it on TV, Pardew said some words that he, as a manager, should have thought about before saying.
«He should have showed a little more respect. Of course, he could celebrate the goal, but not in the offensive way he did.
«That is what made Wenger react.»
