A brief setback was quickly put away – and then the opening series was extended with a festival of goals: FC Bayern celebrated a 9:2 (3:0) victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday evening in head coach Vincent Kompany’s Champions League debut. The Munich side thus extended their own record in the top flight and started the competition with a win for the 21st time in a row.
In the sold-out Allianz Arena, Harry Kane gave the home side, who were superior from the start, the lead from the penalty spot (19th minute), before Raphaël Guerreiro (33rd) and Michael Olise (38th) made it clear before the break. However, the visitors were unrecognizable after the break and surprisingly pulled back to 3:2 after a double strike from Bruno Petković (48′) and Takuya Ogiwara (50′). However, Munich shook themselves briefly and restored the gap with two more goals from Kane (57′) and Olise (61′), before Kane (73′ / handball) from eleven meters, Leroy Sané (85′) and Leon Goretzka (90′ + 2′) completed the scoring.
Here are the goals and comments from our boys on the game.
