The English media always does this, they put their English teams on the highest pedestals, whether it be their clubs or national teams…claiming Liverpool, Mancity and Chelsea to be "the clear favourites"…as if Bayern Munich has not been as dominant or even more dominant than all three of these teams all throughout this Champions League season. Thios level of arrogance should disturb fans. Owen Hargreaves really sat down there and claimed that all three English teams "are the strongest…by some distance." Wow. This level of stupidity and arrogance from a former player is truly astounding.

Not to say Real Madrid won’t beat Chelsea because they can, but from a Chelsea perspective I’d say they’d be quite happy to get Real. The obvious ones to want are Villareal and Benfica but after that I think Real are the next easiest options. Atletico over a league season maybe aren’t as good as Real but for Chelsea I think Real would be easier to break down than and less dogged than Atleti. Real will allow chelsea to play more flowing football.

As a Liverpool fan, I’m happy with both the quarterfinals and semifinals draw, out of the 3 English teams, Liverpool have the best route to the final. Villarreal or Bayern Munich in the semifinals after Benfica is a decent route to the final because we know Bayern Munich very well, a lot of the players that are in the Bayern team today played in the tie against us 3 years ago including Gnabry, Lewandowski, Kimmich, Neuer, Sule, etc. Bayern will have painful memories from the last time we played them and if we were to play Bayern in the semis, I think we will take care of them. But we have to take Benfica seriously, they’re in the quarterfinals for a reason, but if we’re anywhere near our best, we will put Benfica to the sword.

Owen's English bias is on another level. City untouchable…yet can't even beat Palace and Spurs. Not even one mention for Bayern! Talk to me about EPL clubs only winning 6 out of 30 UCL titles in the modern era.

I think the problem with city is the same problem Chelsea had before they won it for the first time, same problem
Athletico had, same as PSG and also maybe spurs.

Teams with a past pedigree in this competition seem to have less of a weight of winning it. Winning it for the first time just seems to weigh some teams down, especially in a final.

Also Chelsea somehow won it when they were at their weakest as underdogs. Maybe that helps
